    ABOUT THE BOOK

Vós que lá, do vosso império
    Prometeis um mundo novo
    Calai-vos que pode o povo
Querer um mundo novo, a sério!

    (António Aleixo)

A group of progressive citizens, concerned and dissatisfied with the current situation, believe that it is important to publicize and debate this book. That is why we have signed a Collective Preface with the Author, and recommend its reading to all who, like us, aspire to help build a more dignified, fairer and more supportive society. In other words, "A New World, For Real". [read the Collective Preface] [Purchase / Support the Book]

    SYNOPSIS

"Are we going to accept as inevitable a society that worsens inequalities, exploitation and injustice? A 3rd world war? The climate crisis? After all, what society do we want? What better society can we build? And how?

What political ideology best serves Humanity in the 21st century? Is it true, as many claim, that ideology matters little today?

It's not about presenting a moral discourse, about how the world "should be". It is also about showing, following the evidence of Science and the experience of the struggle of social movements, how the world "could be". .

Like Aleixo, this book proposes... a new world, for real"

"For a Progressive Ideology in the 21st Century Supported by Science and the Experience of Social Movements"

"50 years after the struggles that led to the Revolution of April 25, 1974, the author challenges us to reflect on fundamental issues of today, and on the direction that the Left has been taking in recent decades.

We live in an era of great promises, challenges and paradoxes. But there is a deep division in Society, and within the Left itself. Which path to follow? After all, what world do we want - and can - have? This work presents us with a unique contribution, because it is based on many years of transdisciplinary scientific research (engineering and social sciences), but also on the experience of progressive struggle..

For the author, the Left seems to be limited to the "pragmatic" role of mitigating, moderating, the worst effects of the economic crisis and war, but without a vision of a truly autonomous society from the Right; or to the "radical" role of champion of "minorities", but whose "identitarian" exaggerations distance the people from the Left and thus deliver the "majorities" to the Right.

This book therefore aspires to contribute to a more dignified, fairer and more supportive society.."
